Should universities teach git? (And random encodings)
Backend Banter this week had a couple of interesting hot takes including the idea that universities shouldn't focus on using Git but instead should focus on the concepts by teaching how to build version control . I think it was a great discussion and we learned more about some of the asynchronous game stream encoding that ThePrimeagen has been working on. YouTube
Apparently Brave is kind of scummy
I have used the browser Brave in the past but I switched back to Firefox a few years ago because I was having some performance issues scrolling on pages in X-window, but apparently there has been more development that I wasn't aware of and they've made some pretty strange decisions, especially regarding crypto Article

While I think this article might go a little too far, I am generally sympathetic with their take that the metaphor of a computer isn’t the right one for understanding the brain. Link
Firefox is working with the Russian government
I haven’t found independent verification of this yet, but Firefox may have agreed to block some addons in Russia at the request of the Russian government. Article

An excellent piece of investigative journalism piecing together the events that led up to the SolarWinds hack. One researcher within Microsoft tried to raise the alarm about this vulnerability years before it was known to be exploited and Microsoft failed to prioritize Article
